Occupation of parents: Farmer and Housewife
Rolando lives with his parents and has 4 older siblings. 3 of his older siblings have families of their own, but they never had the opportunity to pursue post-secondary education and become professionals. He is very close with his family – they all meet together almost every weekend. He wants to be a mechanic so that he can support his community and teach his skills to others.
“I want to be a good leader and be something in my life in order to support the people of my community and those who do not have enough money.”
Dear: Education Generation
I hope that you are in good health in the company of your relatives.
I will tell you the story of my life. My name is Rolando Huillca Alvarez. I was born in Ollantaytambo on the 18th December 1991. I live in a community called Pallata which is very humble and people are very poor.
I am the last son in the family. There are 5 siblings; 3 male and 2 women. My parents are called: Exaltacion [my father] and my mother Zoila. My father only works the land and my mother works at home and we don’t have sufficient economy.
But I am happy for your great support of my studies. I will study to be an automobile mechanic or a [tourist] guide because I like it. When I become a professional, I will change my family and my community and I thank you a thousand times for your help.
I say goodbye with a strong hug for you and your family.
Greetings to your relatives and yourself from me. Until the next opportunity.
