Nishani is studying for a BSc in Science at Eastern University. She is a lovely person, spending much of her spare time as a volunteer at her church, and she also looks after her grand mother. She lives with her mother, brother and sister.
Nishani started University in Sept 2008 and this scholarship will cover her second year of of University!
We are happy to report that all our scholars in Sri Lanka are alive and well despite the terrible violence in that country. For several months we lost touch with one of our female students who is studying law at Jaffna - her parents had gone to see if she was safe and were there when the war intensified and they too dissappeared. Our Sri lanka office was very worried for their safety, however, eventually they were able to make contact again. All the universities are open and classes are continuing.
