Logini is a brilliant and hard working student and is the first in her family to go to University. She was accepted into Columbo University to study medicine starting in Jan 2009. She comes from a low income family and has a brother and a sister.
This scholarship will cover Logini's second year of of University (Jan 2010-Dec 2010).
We are happy to report that all our scholars in Sri Lanka are alive and well despite the terrible violence in that country. For several months we lost touch with one of our female students who is studying law at Jaffna - her parents had gone to see if she was safe and were there when the war intensified and they too dissappeared. Our Sri lanka office was very worried for their safety, however, eventually they were able to make contact again. All the universities are open and classes are continuing.
