Uwera Trifine is 18 years old and attends ACEJ School in Gitarama, Rwanda. Uwera excels academically at school, where she consistently places in the top 10 in her class. She is also enrolled in physics and chemistry simultaneously, something that few students dare to do.
In addition to her science classes, Uwera is beginning to learn how to speak English, a skill she is very proud of. She is the striker on the girl's soccer team at ACEJ School. Upon completing her education, she hopes to become a doctor.
Uwera was born in a rural farming village near Gitarama. When given a chance to go to school, her entire village came out to thank Educate! by presenting basket after basket of their crops. Uwera's village, which resembles a large family, understood what an incredible opportunity this was for one of their daughters, and they all wanted to express their gratitude.
