Danish would like to study towards becoming an Army Officer and serve his nation. He is the youngest of 5 siblings and along with maintaining his school grades he helps his father in the family shop after school. The ongoing expenses of running a business and supporting a family makes it difficult to pay for Danish’s education.
Tameer-e-Millat Hazara Public School & College
The TMH public school in Shinkiari was damaged beyond repair when an earthquake struck the area in October 2005. Home of many of the students were also destroyed. 80,000 lives were lost and many thousands injured and left homeless. The school would have been closed if it were not for local and international charities that put up temporary tents so that the students' education could continue. A substantial donation by the Maria-Helena Foundation built a new school on what was the previous school’s playground and this is where the students study today.
NOTE: This letter is from the Managing Director of the school attended by Maria Helena students in Shinkiara.
