Educate! is a non-profit organization
that aims to educate and empower the next generation of socially responsible
leaders in Africa.
Eric Glustrom started Educate! in 2002 after traveling to the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement in Uganda to create a film about the life of refugees. It was there that he met Benson Olivier, a refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Educate! began by providing Benson a scholarship to go to school. Today, Educate! has grown into a non-profit organization that will reach 375 students across Uganda in 2009 alone. Educate! has also developed an innovative two-year mentoring and leadership program that empowers students in Uganda to create small scale social enterprises and become leaders in their schools, communities, and future careers.
